| Hi, You might be wondering what language this wiki is in. In fact, it's English; it's the kind of English that was spoken in England from about 500 AD, when the Anglo-Saxons invaded England, until about 1100 AD, just after William the Conqueror conquered England. It's usually called Old English, but it is also commonly known as Anglo-Saxon. You may be wanting to contribute to this wiki, but are unable to because of lack of knowledge of the language, or you might simply be wanting to learn some Old English. If so, then please visit this wiki (which is sadly not yet complete): [1], or visit this online grammar to Old English: [2]. |
| You will by now know that the Anglo-Saxons did not have TV, computer, or even electricity (or at least not from a plug in a wall); this is problematic, but many modern users of the language (including me) (sadly, none of us are native speakers of Old English) have gotten creative and have made some non-historical words for these modern concepts and inventions. Before making up a word for such modern things yourself, please check [3] and [4] to see if some creative person hasn't already thought the matter over and come up with a word for it. Thanks! |
